Please plan to attend the Adult Forum sponsored by the AIDC Committee for the first three Sundays in November. November is Native American Heritage Month. We will gather in the Fireside Room at 9:00 am. The Adult Forum for November 2, 2025 is a discussion of the book, There There, by Tommy Orange. The book discussion begins at 9:00 am. All are welcome! Even if you previously read the book, please consider attending the Adult Forum to share your insights. The following is a recap of the author, Tommy Orange, and of the book: Tommy Orange is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, yet he was born in Oakland, CA. The book "follows 12 characters from Native communities: all traveling to the Big Oakland Powwow, all connected to one another in ways they may not yet realize." The characters' voices "tell the plight of the urban Native American--grappling with a complex and painful history, with an inheritance of beauty and spirituality, with communion and sacrifice and heroism."--from the book cover. There is no required reading for the following two dates, so please feel free to attend regardless of your experience with the There There novel: The Adult Forum for November 9, 2025 will be about how the research by Indigenous scholars from the College of Education, Health and Human Development at Montana State University, and Bozeman educates the public and improves communities. The Adult Forum for November 16, 2025 will also have a subject that addresses Native American Heritage Month: What are the Essential Understandings regarding Montana Indians and why are they important to you in your walk of faith in the ELCA?
