Community Involvement

Hope’s current campus was moved into in 2008 with a deep commitment to being involved in the community of Bozeman and the wider Gallatin Valley. Our building is used by a wide variety of groups within the community from Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), to American Red Cross blood drawing and a polling pace.

That community involvement extends outside of our walls with participation in ministries that support Jesus’ “least of these” from Matthew 25. These include involvement with a Mobile Soup Kitchen, the Fork and Spoon Restaurant, hosting an annual ‘Christmas Shoppe’, and hosting a Gallatin Valley Packathon for Haiti, to list a few.

Hope also has a strong relationship at Montana State University with Living Christ’s Mission (LCM) campus ministry and with various music venues.

Fork & Spoon

The Fork & Spoon is Montana’s first and only pay-what-you-can restaurant.  Hope provides a team of volunteers one Sunday a month to take orders, plate and serve food, bus dishes, do dishes and clean up after the meal.  More volunteers are always needed if this is a way you would like to serve the community.  For more information about the Fork & Spoon, you can go to Fork & Spoon (forkandspoonbozeman.org)

Mobile Soup Kitchen

Five churches in the Bozeman area support a Mobile Soup Kitchen, free to anyone who needs a meal.  Hope is one of those five churches which serves a hot meal on a grassy area over by Murdoch’s Ranch and Home Supply every Saturday of the year.  Hope provides a team to cook and serve the meal every fifth Saturday.  Volunteers are always welcome to become a part of this rewarding ministry.

Community Picnics

Each summer Hope Lutheran sponsors 3 community picnics, where all members of the community are invited to share a meal with us.  These picnics are held where there is water available, providing an opportunity for fun and games.  Watch for these.  They are held one weeknight during the months of June, July and August.

Taize Prayer Services

Hope participates with Living Christ’s Mission (LCM), and ecumenical campus ministry at Montana State University, in providing a Taizé prayer service.  Current offerings are on the second Sunday of the month, through December 2022, at 7:00 pm.  The service is held at the Christus Collegium at 714 S. Eighth Ave. in Bozeman.

Christmas Shop

One of our biggest events of the year is our Children's Christmas Shop. This event is aimed to help the children and families of Bozeman by providing a free experience to shop for presents for Christmas. Each child has an "elf" to help them shop for their family members and themselves. This is a great opportunity to help out the families of Bozeman during the Christmas season. Volunteers are always needed. For more information contact Paul Goodman at Paul.goodman@hopebozeman.com.

Packathon

Every year, hundreds of volunteers spend their day packaging and portioning beans and rice for children in Haiti. We are able to package thousands of meals with just a day of service. This event is a fun way to help people across the world. If you are interested in volunteering please contact us for more information.
